Memorandum to Nigerians On How Nigerians can Ensure the Survival of Nigeria (1st Edition)

To respond to the earlier enquiry with regards to how does Onima know; it is right to say that whenever the culture, traditions, and customs of a people begin to wane or are being turn apart, it is an indication that something sinister may sociologically affect the people concerned. Actually, a profound grip of the culture of a people on the people is the foundation upon which sprang the sound political economy of that state or nation. In other words, culture is the bedrock upon which grows the consciousness and all that comes with the growth.
Our country’s Identity is being messed up in several ways:
- our culture is currently going in disarray with children and many adults failing in the utilization of their mother tongues;
- self-discipline is not as it used to be or as it should be among Nigerians; 3. patriotism is not being demonstrated in the country by citizens as they should;
- the traditional precept of communalism is being negated while the selfish foreign precept of individualism is being embraced; 5. the traditional ideal of being “your brother’s keeper” is being replaced by the selfish notion of “everyone for him/herself;”
- the traditional, African philosophy of “it takes a village to raise a child” is being overcome by the selfish foreign practice of looking out only for one’s kindred or kinds of the same blood. Nigerians, let us wake up for our own sake and that of posterity.
